Belly Week 24
Thank goodness it’s Friday. I am so glad it’s the weekend! It’s been a crazy busy week, filled with lots of work, meetings, and phone calls.
Yesterday I had my checkup and glad to report everything is perfect. I’ve gained a total of 23 pounds so far out of the 35 pounds that I need to gain. Hopefully I can just keep it to the 35 pounds! My belly’s measuring about 25 cm from the top to bottom, which is right on target for how far along I am. I’m scheduled to take a Glucose Tolerance test in a couple weeks which I hear means that I have to chug an carbonated, orange sugar drink in like 5 minutes, and be on a sugar high for an hour then get tested to see how my body handles that. Not sure about that orange drink…but the nurse assures me it’s not that bad.
Luke and I had been going to a Lamaze class at the local hospital, but dropped out because it took the nurse 2 hours to explain a total of two little points about labor. We’re now signed up for another Lamaze class through my doctor which is suppose to be way better. We start going at the end of October.
Now it’s time to get off the computer and enjoy the weekend!
Computer Issues & Baby Moves
Luke and I have had really bad luck with computers this year. Not good, considering our business revolves around computers. About 4 weeks ago, my HP computer’s wireless card, and ethernet card quit working. After spending almost a whole day on the phone with technical support and swapping out some hardware, they decided to get my computer in for servicing, which would take about 5-7 business days so they told me. 4 weeks later…I called them only to find out that they couldn’t fix my computer so they wanted to send me a replacement. Now I finally have a computer that works, after much frustration, and many phone calls to HPs customer service center in India. Speaking of which, this movie looks hilarious.

Here’s my baby update: She’s a mover! Morning, afternoon, night…she’s kicking, twisting, and generally shakin’ all over the place. I can feel the movements getting stronger everyday, and on occasion Luke can feel her moving around also. Also, I’m soon going to have an “outie”. How far out my belly button is growing is how we can tell how big my belly’s getting everyday. I’ll let you guys know when the button finally “pops”!
Will It Fit? (Part 2)
Ah the joys of a growing belly. I didn’t quite fit into the dress for the wedding. Well, actually it would have fit if the wedding had been this weekend. (What do you think Jewels…move up the wedding?? j/k)
Good thing the dress on backup will work though. I’ll go in for a fitting the week before the wedding to give my belly these next couple weeks to grow. These dress designers really should make some better dresses for the pregnant bridesmaids…
Will It Fit?
A long time friend of mine is getting married in October and I’m in her wedding as one of her bridesmaids. I ordered my dress when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and ordered a large size based on one of those fake bellies. The dress I ordered was something like 4 sizes larger than what I usually wear and I thought for sure it would be okay for the wedding.
When the dress came, I was just about 4 months pregnant and was mortified to see that the dress was already a little snug around my belly. I immediately went to my seamstress and asked her what she thought about the dress taking into consideration that I had another 8 more weeks to grow before the wedding. After about a half hour of talking, tugging at the dress, and inspecting all the seams she thought it should be okay, but encouraged me to continue to try it on as I grew.
Luckily she had another dress that was similar to mine but a size larger and is saving it for me, just in case. Next week I go in for my first fitting. The dress is really snug, so hopefully the seamstress can still work her magic and make it fit!
Belly Week 22
My belly’s getting bigger every week, and each week I feel the baby’s kicks getting stronger and stronger. Usually it’s early in the morning, around lunch time and late at night when I really feel her moving.
It’s also time to start buying all that baby gear. This weekend was our first big purchase. The baby stroller. I had originally bought the BOB Revolution stroller, but when it arrived, I realized I had gotten the wrong model, and it was a pain to fold. So, back it went and instead we purchased this Baby Trend Expedition Jogging Stroller, complete with pedometer and mp3 hook-up! It’s also easy to fold up. This won’t be our only stroller though. We plan on using the infant car seat with a stroller frame for the first few months.
We also spent what seemed like a small fortune on a glider and ottoman which should be delivered this week. Man, babies are expensive…
Ultrasound Pictures
We went for our last ultrasound today. Here’s a picture of our little girl figuring out how to suck her thumb. Either that or she’s just picking her nose, in which case…she’s already taking after Luke.
We saw her wiggling around today, yawn, try to stick her fingers in her mouth and at one point in time I think she actually waved to the camera. I think she’s smiling at us!
Oh Canada!
It was getting really hot in Florida, so Luke and I decided to take a quick trip to the great land up north. We started out in Toronto where we met up with Nial and Pam, then we all drove to Montreal for two days then over to Ottawa (the country’s capital). This pic from the beach is from Lake Ontario, where the water is FRIGID!
We seemed to eat a lot on this trip. Probably because I’m pregnant and constantly hungry. Here’s one of the meals we had in Montreal. Smoked meat sandwich with meat piled high, poutine (fries covered in gravy and cheese curds) and coleslaw. Deadly…
Next stop, Parliament in Ottawa. Amazing old architecture! It was just a quick stop over, then we headed back to Toronto for a day, where we spent some time with friends at a bbq. Then back to sunny, hot Florida…
