Big Dinner, Big Feet, Big Belly
Whew, we’re back from Thanksgiving and trying to get caught up after being gone for a few days. Seems like everyone’s trying to cram in some work before the end of the year. Lucky us!
We were in Arizona with Jim, Michelle and Nate for Thanksgiving. (Jim and Luke unfortunately don’t look the best in this picture, but I had to get one food picture up since it was delicious!)
My feet started to swell quite a bit while we were in Arizona. See how big they are?!? It’s kinda scary looking. I’ve never had chubby feet in my life!
Here’s my big belly after Thanksgiving dinner. Having a baby in your belly at this time of the year is actually good because it makes your stomach smaller, making you eat less….just more often.
Song for Pregnancy
I’m currently addicted to the artist Colbie Caillat, and found this song by her that is perfect for pregnancy. Here are the lyrics.

Capri – Colbie Caillat |
|
| She’s got a baby inside And holds her belly tight All through the night Just so she knows She’s sleeping so Safely to keep Her growing Oh when she’ll open her eyes There’ll be no surprise She’ll grow to be so beautifully just like her mother that’s carrying Oh Capri She’s beauty Baby inside She’s loving Oh Capri |
She’s Beauty there is an angel growing peacefully Oh Capri Sweet Baby Things will be hard at times But I’ve learned to try just listening patiently Oh Capri Sweet Baby Oh Capri She’s Beauty Baby inside she’s loving Oh Capri you’re beauty Just like your mother that’s carrying |
Guest Room Gets Facelift
Our changing table arrived this week and this weekend Luke and I put the beast together. Our guest room is slowly turning in to a nursery finally. We also have the crib sitting in our garage, but since we have a futon set up for holiday guests the crib will have to wait until after people leave. Just a few more things to get for the nursery such as a rug and wall decor and I think I’ll be done! By the way, that glider is probably my favorite spot in the house…so comfy!
Baby Pooh Helps with Car Seat
We unpacked the car seat the other night to figure out how the thing actually works and make sure we knew how to install it into the car. To do this, I needed some assistance, so Baby Pooh acted as our tester. He was quite helpful in figuring out how to adjust straps, and actually put a baby in the car seat. Thanks Baby Pooh.
9 more weeks (give or take 2 weeks)
Just yesterday I had a moment when I was writing in my belly book where I went “Whow, she’s really coming…and soon!” She could come as early as Christmas or as late as the end of January (sometime between 37-42 weeks of pregnancy). I honestly hope she doesn’t wait until the end of January for my sanity and Luke’s as well.
I think these last few weeks are going to fly by since it’s now the holiday season and there’s plenty of things going on to make the time go by. The nursery is not yet set up, but she’ll be sleeping in her bassinet in our bedroom for at least the first few weeks. We’ll be converting our guest room into the nursery, so currently it just has a futon for guests, the changing table and glider in there. After our Christmas guests leave we’ll really set up the nursery.
Her movements are definitely getting more pronounced and she moves more often. Usually when I’m sitting or laying still I’ll feel her twisting around, kicking or stretching. I’m now calling her “Big Fish” because her movements feel like there’s a big fish swimming around and flipping it’s tail. I’ve also upgraded my pillow count to 4 (the additional one is to support my back now). Poor Luke may have to start sleeping on the couch…
Baby Luncheon
Today our friends (and clients) at Remington College’s marketing department took us out for a baby luncheon/shower at the restaurant Seasons 52. We’ve never been there before, but were delighted by the yummy food and delicious desserts. Remington was also kind enough to give us a car seat, and few other gifts including a pedicure gift certificate for me.
Our sincere thanks goes out to them for throwing us this shower and for the gifts. (It’s a rare occasion to find a client group nice enough to throw you a baby shower) Also, thanks to our friends Stacy and Caleb for joining us at lunch as well!
Belly Week 30
Wow I look big! I didn’t realize how big I looked until I looked at the pictures we just took. I’m definitely feeling bigger and it’s getting harder to climb into bed and get comfortable. Once I am in bed and positioned right with pillows and blankets, I feel like I have to pee and the process starts all over again.
It’s also getting harder to bend over to pick things off the floor. This big belly gets in the way! I also tried to cut my toenails the other night and struggled for quite a bit to get the job done. It took some creative positioning just to reach my toes. I think it’s time to start going for pedicures… Pregnancy is strange, awkward, and provides for some pretty funny moments.
Daylight Savings
Luke and I woke up yesterday and after Luke checked his clock on his computer, he realized that all our clocks were off by an hour. After half a day of wondering if our power went off and screwed up our clocks, we finally realized that we had missed daylight savings! (that’s what you get for watching only TV shows that are on the DVR and avoid the news)
It makes me sad that the sun goes down so early now. It was pitch black outside by 6:30pm yesterday. However, I am glad that fall is here and the weather has finally started to cool down. That will make my last trimester more bearable.
