Truly a Mini Me

Wearing Izzy like this reminded me of Dr. Evil and Mini Me from Austin Powers. Funny huh?

Working Hard

Category: Business and Work Posted by Maisie on Apr 29, 08

Most of you know that Luke and I own and operate Kinoli (USA) and deal with all things web related.  Luke’s the creative genius and I’m the project manager.  At the end of last year, Luke decided to create a website called FreeShipping.org that lists only online free shipping offers.  For the past 5 months, it seems like I’ve heard the words “free shipping” at least 20 times a day.  It may get old after awhile, but I’m proud of Luke for making the site work.  He’s recently received quite a bit of online buzz resulting in an enormous growth in website traffic.

I am currently working on launching a site called Best Baby Stuff, which is a site dedicated to product reviews on the best baby products I’ve found.  It’s slowly coming together since Luke and I have to work on it at night or weekends.

We’ve been keeping busy with our Kinoli clients during the day.  Some days we feel like we’re too busy, but work is good.  I’m finding it a little more challenging to balance taking care of Izzy, all the normal housework and cleaning on top of working and running the business when we are really busy.  However, I’m very grateful that Luke is around all day to lend a helping hand if needed.  I don’t know how I could do it without him!

Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’

Category: Baby News Posted by Maisie on Apr 28, 08

Today Isabelle didn’t feel like doing Tummy Time, so instead she decided to roll back to a position where she didn’t have to work as hard. It’s a big step for her though, rolling on her own!

Portraits

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Apr 26, 08

I don’t think we’ve ever spent money on professional portraits before (not even for our wedding) so I thought it was about time we took some nice family photos. Here are just a few images from our session. The rest of the photos can be viewed here. We do have printed copies of some of these pictures as well that we’ll be sending to family, so don’t waste your printer ink trying to print these =)

Tummy Time with Izzy

Category: Baby News Posted by Maisie on Apr 25, 08

Here’s a video of Izzy during tummy time. She’s gotten a lot stronger this week and is now able to lift her head up quite a bit. I’m so proud of her! I also like to imagine that she’s saying “Hello” back to me in this video. She’s a genius! =)

Screechy Izzy

Category: Baby News Posted by Maisie on Apr 22, 08

Izzy’s still working on her basic motor skills, so this morning she was trying to grab the rattles. You can tell she’s working really hard to try to grab them in this video. Watch her screech whenever one of them moves.

* By the way, I know videos of babies can be boring cause they really don’t do much…hopefully my videos are a little more interesting!

Information Overload

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Apr 20, 08

I’ve been struck with the sheer volume of social networking sites. There’s MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, then throw in personal blogs…there are too many ways to share useless information with each other. Whenever I’m on these sites I find that I get lost in a sea of information overload, reading updates from friends, acquaintances and wandering off reading about people I don’t even know!

I wonder, do people really care to know about the boring details of MY life? Perhaps, since I find it amusing to peek into other people’s lives. So I guess I’ll continue to contribute to the volumes of useless information, and help decrease the productivity of the working class who, like me, seem to waste a lot of time browsing these sites and blogs.

Those of you reading this at work…GET BACK TO WORK! =)

Talking with Izzy

Every morning Izzy and I sit down and have a “conversation” with each other. Here’s how it usually goes…

Samson the Swimmer

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Apr 17, 08

Okay, I’ll admit it, Samson’s not getting as much attention as he use to. So, some weekends we’ll take him to the big dog park with the lake so that he can go swimming…which he LOVES. Strange for a basset with little tiny legs to go swimming, but he loves it. He’ll only go out to where his paws can still touch the bottom, then turn around and swim back to shore. Here’s a video of him having fun in the water.

Upgrading to a Crib

Category: Baby News Posted by Maisie on Apr 15, 08

Up until this week Izzy has been sleeping in her cradle swing very well (12 hours straight!).  Since she was doing so well in the swing we decided it was time to get her to learn to sleep in a stationary crib.  She’s done okay with it.  She’ll wake up once or twice at night and cry but I just give her a pacifier and she goes straight back to sleep.  I’m hoping that she’ll learn to sleep through the night in her crib so that when we travel it won’t be too rough on her.

Izzy’s learning some basic motor skills.  She’s able to hold her head up higher now when she’s sitting in her chair.  Today, she learned how to hold a rattle.  She doesn’t know what to do with it quite yet, but we’re able to put it in her had and she can hold it for at least a few minutes.  I know that seems like such a small thing, but at this age…anything is amazing to me!
