Walt Disney World

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on May 31, 08

This week we have had Luke’s brother Jesse and Kim (his new fiancée) in town visiting. They got engaged last Saturday when they went skydiving at a place south of Orlando.

Yesterday we all went to Walt Disney World and explored Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. It was Izzy’s first time at Walt Disney World however, I think we’ll have to come back when she’s a little older and can actually ride the rides and remember the trip. It was a hot day yesterday! Even hotter for Izzy and I since we were attached to each other. Here are some pictures to document our first trip to Disney. As you can see, by the end of the day we were all pretty tired and sweaty…

Jump…Jump…Jump Around!

Category: Baby News Posted by Maisie on May 25, 08

We learned from Luke’s parents that Luke’s favorite toy as a baby was a jumperoo which they hung from the top of their ceiling in the middle of a big open room. Luke would jump and run around in circles having a blast! So, we thought we’d get a jumperoo for Izzy to see how she would take to it. The jumperoo sits on the floor and comes equipped with a chair that swivels 360 degrees with toys all around it. Izzy LOVES it, but has yet to figure out how to jump in it. For now she’s happy just sitting and playing with all the toys.

Here’s a picture of Luke and Izzy hanging out…

Home Sweet Home

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on May 19, 08

Check out a really long video of our awesome new pad! Just kidding, these houses are way to ritzy for our blood. These clips are from the Street of Dreams which we visited this weekend. The Street of Dreams is a luxury home tour featuring homes over 10,000 square feet and ranging from $7-10 million. Luke and I went to Street of Dreams a couple years ago and were blown away by the homes. This year, there were only 3 homes, but they’re still insane! One of the homes was just sold to Chris DiMarco (a pro golfer) and includes a basketball court, in home bowling alley, movie theater and loft playrooms actually in each of the kid’s rooms. If I were a kid, I’d make friends with his kids so that I could hang out at their sweet house!

3 Years and Counting

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on May 16, 08

Luke and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary on Wednesday. It has felt like longer than three years because of everything that’s happened within that time, but short because I still remember our wedding day like it was yesterday!

To celebrate we (Izzy included) had a nice dinner at our favorite restaurant in town, Seasons 52. The food was delicious, the company amazing and desserts to die for!

Trip to Tucson

Category: Travel & Trips Posted by Maisie on May 15, 08

Well, we survived our first family trip! Izzy did very well on our plane trip out to Tucson. No crying…she just took in all the sights and sounds and seemed very fascinated by everything. However, on the trip back, she was tired and grouchy since it was really late in the day, so there was some crying.

Izzy experienced her first trip to the zoo in Tucson, which she slept through… We did a lot of eating good food which is something we tend to do a lot of when we’re with Jim and Michelle. For Mother’s day, Michelle cooked a great brunch and then we both went to the spa for a couple hours of relaxation.

I tried to keep Izzy on Florida time and on her schedule which was a little difficult at times, especially when the time difference is three hours. But all things considered, she did pretty well. I think she’s glad to be home and back in a normal routine though.

Click here to see all the pictures from our trip…compliments of Michelle

New Baggage Policy

Category: Travel & Trips Posted by Maisie on May 07, 08

Did you know that on May 5, most airlines changed their baggage policy. Now instead of allowing passengers two free checked bags on domestic flights and flights to Canada, airlines are now only allowing one free checked bag per ticketed passenger. The free checked bag has a maximum linear size of 62 inches and a maximum weight of 50 pounds.

Airlines can charge you up to three types of fees on checked baggage. First for an additional bag, second for oversize, third for over weight. The max fee that you could be paying on one bag is $250. Airlines are claiming that this change is due to the increase in gas prices.

I flipped out when I found out about this new baggage policy because now when I travel I have Izzy, who will usually be traveling without a ticket. Plus, I now have all this baby gear I have to bring with me. A travel crib, a car seat, diaper bag, etc. How am I suppose to bring all this STUFF with me when I’m only allowed one checked bag?! I could gate check the car seat for free in addition to my one checked bag, one carry on and one personal item, but lugging a car seat through terminals does not sound like fun!

I’ve received conflicting information from airline personal about whether or not I can check a car seat for free or not. I guess I’ll find out when we go to the airport for our trip to Arizona this week.

Here’s what we plan on bringing for this trip. We’ll see if we get by this new baggage policy. 1 large checked luggage with a tiny travel bed packed away, checked car seat, one diaper bag, one laptop, one carry-on luggage, one Izzy in a wrap!

The past couple days we’ve noticed that Izzy likes to talk. Not sure what she’s saying, but we’re preparing ourselves now for a little girl who won’t stop talking!

Crazy Week…Crazy Month!

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on May 05, 08

Whew…this week is going to be one hectic one!  Luke, Izzy and I are leaving on Thursday morning to visit my sister Michelle and her husband Jim in Tucson, AZ.  Before we leave though, we need to make sure all our clients are taken care of, so we’re cramming 5 days of work into 3.  For me, that 3 days will also be filled with a doctor’s appointment, packing, cleaning and dropping Samson off at the doggy hotel.  So needless to say, LOTS TO DO!

At the end of the month we have Luke’s brother Jesse and his girlfriend staying with us for 8 days, then 5 days after they leave my brother Nate is coming to stay for 5 days.  How we’re going to fit work in during those couple weeks is still a mystery to me!
