We’re not sure what was so funny here, but every time I took a bite of my food she laughed!
Who Does She Look Like?
Ever since Izzy was born, Luke and I have been debating who she looks more like. Does she look like Luke? Does she look like me? And who’s ears did she get???
Well, Grandma Glady sent through a baby picture of Luke and I dug up one of my baby pictures. Now…who does she really look like?
Here’s what I think, she has Luke’s ears, Luke’s hair, Luke’s eyebrows, Luke’s eyelashes, Luke’s lips, Luke’s skin tone. What did she get from me? Not much! I think just the corners of my eyes, eye color and dimples. That’s okay though. She really is Daddy’s Little Girl!
5 Months and Baby Day
Izzy is 5 months old today! It’s amazing how quickly time passes. Today we also went to Baby Day, a get together with one of my play groups just for babies…and boy, there were a lot of babies there! Babies included two sets of twins. Can’t imagine what those mom’s deal with every day!
Look Grandma Knowles!
Izzy’s new toys are her toes… especially during diaper changes. She can even suck on her toes, just like Grandma Knowles. We’ve also started using the high chair from Grandma Glady. She’s still a little tiny so I have to help her sit up with a towel behind her back.
While Luke is Away the Girls Will Play
Luke has been in New York for the past two days for some client meetings. During the past two days Izzy and I have kept ourselves busy by playing outside. On Monday we went to a splash park with one of the play groups I’m in. Today we met up with some of my friends went to a community pool. Here are some pictures! (the prego lady in the picture is Stacy who’s about to pop any day now!)
Where Are You From?
I was at a baby shower yesterday where the sweet little grandma made a beeline for me. Here’s how our conversation went.
Grandma: Hi there! Where are you from?
Me: Well, I live here in Florida currently….
Grandma: Oh I meant, what’s your background?
Me: Oh! I’m Chinese.
Grandma: Oh that’s nice, are you here on a visa? Do you need to go back to China soon?
Me: (laughing) No, I was born in the States and lived in the States my whole life!
Grandma: Oh I see…have you ever been to China?
Me: Nope
At the end of the shower, she stops me again while I’m heading out the door.
Grandma: Bye sweetie! By the way, do you speak Chinese?
Me: Nope
Grandma: Oh, that’s a shame!
Me: (shrugs) Yes, it probably is…
This whole episode just makes me laugh because this makes the third person in Florida that has asked me where I’m from which I just think is strange. I never stop to think that they’re really asking me what my ethnicity is because I just think of myself as American and from here! I’m not from China or Asia…I’m from here, born and raised here…
I don’t get offended when people ask me what my ethnicity is. I just think it’s funny that people automatically think I’m not from the States just because I’m Asian. Hilarious! Perhaps the next time someone asks me that question I should just play dumb and say in a thick Chinese accent “I NO SPEAK ENGLISH!”
A Quiet Night
Well, last night Izzy finally fell asleep at 10pm. I tried to put her down at 8pm, but she kept crying every time she was put down. Finally I think she was just to tired to keep fighting, so she fell asleep and stayed asleep until 8am this morning. Today, it didn’t take her long to settle down for her nap either which I’m very thankful for!

By the way, Izzy had a weigh in at the doctor’s a couple days ago. She’s now 11 pounds. Still pretty light for a little baby, but at least she’s gaining weight. Luke’s first Father’s Day was good (I hope). He went for a massage then we all went to the movies. Going to the movies is a rare occasion for us now since Izzy likes to scream her head off some times. We don’t like ruining movies for everyone else in the theater!
Sleep Izzy…Sleep…
The past couple days have been rough. Izzy has been fussier during the day and has decided that she does not want to nap or go to sleep. Our doctor says that she’s now more aware of her surroundings, knows what she likes and doesn’t like. We know for sure that she really likes being held by mom or dad and really does not like being alone. This is a problem when it comes to sleep time! So tonight is the night where we really try to be harder on her to teach her to fall asleep on her own. We’ll see how it goes. I may not get much sleep tonight!
Tickets are Booked!
Friends and family in Canada…we’ve finally booked our tickets to come for our visit! Mark your calendars now, the Knowles from Florida are going to be in Saskatchewan from August 19 through September 2. We hope to see as many people as we can while we’re there. I think Isabelle will be excited to see everyone.
Spring Cleaning
Okay, I realize it is no longer Spring…we’re late on our Spring cleaning. It’s actually going to happen this weekend. Hopefully it will only take one day. We’re going to be shampooing our carpets and scrubbing our tile. Hopefully we can keep our dirty dog out of the carpeted rooms after that so that we can keep it a little cleaner. Sounds like a fun weekend huh?
Sunday is Luke’s first Father’s Day. Izzy and I still need to make his gift, but I have a fun surprise for him already!
