6 Month Check Up
Today was Izzy’s six month check up. Here’s how she’s grown so far:
Weight: 15 lbs (25th percentile)
Height: 26 inches (50th percentile)
She also go stuck three times with a needle for her vaccinations. Needless to say, she screamed…poor baby!
6 Months Old
Izzy turned six months old on Saturday. It’s crazy how fast she’s grown up. Luke’s been out of town for the past two days, so we’ve been busy keeping ourselves occupied, doing play dates and generally staying out of the house. Here’s a video of Izzy playing with one of her toys.
Update on house sale: The buyer’s final financing is suppose to come through tomorrow or Thursday. We’re keeping our fingers crossed and praying that everything comes through okay. It was at this point where everything fell apart with the last buyers…
What Happened to Nap Time?
For about the past week Izzy has decided that it’s better to stay up all day and sleep long and hard all night. She has done away with the one nap she was getting during the afternoon, which was a peaceful 2 hours for me to get work done. Instead, it seems that Izzy likes to go out and “do” things. Since she doesn’t get a nap, she sleeps really well at night. I’m talking a good 12-14 hours! So now, I cram all the stuff I have to do in a day into the two or three hours after Izzy goes to bed and before I pass out for the day.
Today however, we took Sammy and Izzy on a walk and she fell asleep in her stroller. She’s missing lunch time, but I’m getting LOTS done in the past 45 minutes!
Izzy the Cookie Monster
Have I mentioned that Izzy LOVES food? She’s joined us at the dinner table since she was 1 month old and has been so intrigued with whatever we’re eating. Michelle (who is an awesome baker and cook) sent us a box full of homemade cookies. Luke sat down with Izzy and ate a cookie, which Izzy really wanted to get her hands on.
Update on our house sale: The buyers have now run out of time to do a home inspection and so have decided to go with a home inspection that was done a year ago with the last couple who put an offer on. We’re glad because it’s one less thing that can go wrong with the sale.
Big News!
Just to warn you, this is going to be a long post! Over a year ago we put our house on the market because we knew we wanted to start a family and we wanted to be closer to our families. Our families are in the western half of the States and Canada, so being here in Florida is a long way away from loved ones.
Three months after putting our house on the market we received an offer on our house and were packed and ready to move into an apartment here in Florida for a couple months when a week before closing we found out that the buyers no longer qualified for financing because the guy had just quit his job. We were extremely disappointed. We left most of our belongings in boxes thinking that we would be able to get another offer soon afterward.
A year later…we finally received another offer, which we accepted. Our anticipated closing date is August 8. Between now and then we have a potential home inspection, finalizing the buyer’s financing and the final walk through. We are hoping and praying that everything goes smoothly this time around and that we’ll make it to closing! (Please pray for us as well during this time.)
We will be packing up a UHaul plus our SUV with Izzy and Sammy to make the three day move out to Fort Collins, Colorado on August 10. Luke’s dad will be flying in from Canada to help us with the move. We hope to be in Fort Collins on August 12.
The plan is to rent a house for a year to learn the city and save some money before building in a new community on the outskirts of Fort Collins. We’re excited to be a day’s drive away from all our family members and we expect to see more of you more often!
I believe that the timing of this move is God’s perfect timing. I was just getting comfortable here, making some friends and connecting with the community around us. However, I know that whenever I get comfortable with something, God will always switch things up a bit to make sure that I don’t get too comfortable or complacent.
This move will obviously affect our plans for the trip out to Canada. We will still be going to Canada at the end of August, but we will be driving instead of flying which will allow for more flexibility in our travel dates. We will keep everyone posted as we figure those details out.
Okay, now for some pictures of Izzy which Luke says I MUST post. Izzy and I went on a play date this week where Izzy sat and played with the 9 month old baby named Isabella. Isabella was nice enough to share her toys with Izzy. As you can see, Izzy’s doing really well sitting up on her own!
I caught Izzy sucking her finger the other day. When I was a baby I sucked my finger. Not my thumb…my finger, just one..and I sucked it for a VERY long time. My parents had to put socks over my hands to try to get me to stop sucking my finger!
Messy Izzy
We’ve just started Izzy on some “solid” foods. Rice cereal, looks yummy huh? Since she’s just learning to eat it’s a little messy during meal times.
Happy Birthday America!
What a fun weekend! On Friday (the Fourth) we got together with some friends at their pool and had some fun in the sun, then joined some other friends for dinner and went to an awesome fireworks display in one of the towns close to us. On Saturday, we went to Deleon Springs with Stacey and Jonathan. Ate at this awesome pancake house where they bring you pitchers of batter and you cook everything on the griddle in your table. We then played around in the springs and relaxed in the sun.
Today however, everyone’s been sick. Izzy was getting sick this weekend and last night it developed into a full-blown cold, which she then gladly shared with Luke and I. Izzy’s getting better, but Luke and I are still trying to fight it off with tons of vitamin C. I hate being sick!
