Merry Christmas!

Category: Daily Life, Travel & Trips Posted by Maisie on Dec 29, 08

We just returned from our Christmas trip to Canada.  We spent tons of time with Luke’s family, opened lots of gifts and generally had a good time.  Traveling to and from Canada was a little hairy, since Izzy refused to sleep on the plane and wanted to go explore.  We fly home from Canada on Christmas day and the next day headed out to Nebraska for our friend Seth’s wedding.  It was great to see friends and to watch Seth get hitched.

We are now home for the next two weeks and I’m glad to be back into a routine again.  Here are some pics from Christmas. Notice the similarities between this first picture and a one of the pictures taken at Thanksgiving? Click here to see all our pictures from Canada.

Christmas is coming!

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Dec 15, 08

Christmas is almost here!  So is Isabelle’s first birthday!  This year has flown by.  Ever since we sold our house in Florida it has been non-stop at the Knowles household.  This holiday season will be packed with activity as well.  On Wednesday we leave for Canada where we will be until Christmas day.  Luckily our flight to and from Canada is non-stop and short, which I’m grateful for especially with Izzy in tow.

Our friend Seth is getting married on December 27 and Luke has the privilege of being in his wedding, so we will be spending a couple days in Nebraska right when we get back.  Jesse will be joining us for at least the month of January in Fort Collins working with Luke on FreeShipping.org.  We’re excited to have him back again!

Thinking back to this time last year I was in my last month of pregnancy (or so I thought) and I believe Michelle had just arrived in Florida to help out with that last month.  I remember waiting for Izzy to arrive and being sorely disappointed when she was late!  How things have changed!

I’m now constantly chasing Izzy, who goes non-stop all day (she gets that from Luke).  It’s a joy watching her grow up and learn new skills.  She’s learned how to pull up on things like the baby gate, Samson and me. She’s not standing on her own yet, but I can tell she wants to.  I’m now having to tell her “no” to keep her from going through the trash or playing with the electrical outlets and plugged in wires. She understands what it means, but always tries again to see if I’ll keep saying “no”.  I always end up laughing though because she pouts if I say “no” too many times.

This will probably be the last post for this year, so I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!  I’ll see you next year and I promise to post some great pictures.

More Pictures

Izzy’s new toy is Samson.  And yes, I do mean TOY.  She uses him as her climbing wall.  Luckily he’s such a mellow dog that he doesn’t mind her grabbing his fur and tickling his paws.

Here’s a picture of Izzy standing up in her crib.  This is now how we find her every morning when she’s ready to get up.

Michelle bought me this little doll from Japan when she was there a couple months ago.  It’s a mom with her baby wrapped into the kimono with her. Michelle got it for me because Izzy and I look quite similar to this doll whenever I’m wearing her.

Our House and Izzy Pics

Category: Baby News, Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Dec 07, 08

Here are some recent pictures of Izzy.  In the first picture she’s posing…this is what she does whenever she’s crawling somewhere and needs to look back.  In this second picture, Sammy brought Izzy his toy so that he could play with her then stared at her like.. “WELL?”

Here’s a picture of Izzy and I, and a picture of Izzy with her first hair bow.  The hair bow picture is for the grandmas out there, however I do have to admit that she looks pretty cute with a bow in her hair.

At our future home, they have poured the basement.  However a mistake was made that they are now in the process of fixing.  They put one of the basement windows in the wrong spot so they have to move it.

Thanksgiving 2008

Category: Travel & Trips Posted by Maisie on Dec 03, 08

We decided to spend Thanksgiving in Tucson this year again since Jim and Michelle had come out to Colorado for my birthday.  Isabelle and I left last Monday.  This was the first time Izzy and I flew without Luke.  We got to hang out with Jim and Michelle until Tuesday night when Jesse (Luke’s brother) arrived from Canada.  Luke and Nate arrived on Wednesday.  Thursday, Michelle cooked a delicious Thanksgiving feast…which we then feasted on.  I think Nate ate half the turkey.  Where does he put it all!  He’s still so skinny!

Isabelle got to meet Jack (Michelle and Jim’s dog) for the second time.  Since she’s older I think she understands dogs more.  Jack smelled some stinky diapers on Isabelle and wanted to lick her clean.

Since this is the last time we see my family before Christmas, we exchanged gifts on Thanksgiving day.  The best gift was a gift to Isabelle from Jim and Michelle.  It was a box of marti gras beads which she was very excited about! It’s the little things that make Izzy happy!

The guys did manly things…like geek out on their computers and Jim and Jesse geeked out on Gears of War.  (BOOM!)  They also went to the shooting range one day and went on a hike through the desert.  The girls however, did more girly things, like going out for lunch and shopping.

Jesse left on Saturday and Nate and Luke left on Sunday.  Izzy and I were there until today when we flew home in the morning.  I have to say I’m a huge fan of direct flights…especially with a squirmy little one!
