7 Weeks
We close on our new house on June 19. That’s only 7 weeks away! Between now and then however we may not be able to extend our lease on our rental home because it’s on the market. We may be living in a hotel for those first couple weeks of June! I should know in the next day or two what will happen.
We locked in our interest rate this week and are now doing nitty gritty stuff like turning in tax returns to our mortgage company and getting quotes for fencing and finishing off the third car garage for Luke’s office.
Tonight we drove by the house and was surprised to see that it was unlocked. Of course we had to peek inside. Here’s how everything looks so far. We’re thrilled at how everything is turning out. Izzy is also thrilled and she actually got to walk around her new house. We go back on Saturday with our realtor so that I can take measurements of all the windows that need blinds.

Look at Me!
This is what I mean by Izzy likes “putting” on clothes.
Up and Walking
Izzy’s been doing great with walking. She’s probably at 80% walking 20% crawling now. I’m waiting for her to get to 100% walking and really steady on her feet and I’m going to enroll her in this program called Mom’s Day Out at a local church. This will give me several hours during the week to get things done and have a little bit of a break.
Now that Izzy’s walking more I feel like I need to wrap her in padding so that she doesn’t get hurt! Just tonight she took a spill into the end of our coffee table and now has a big bump on her head. Poor baby!
Izzy’s also starting to be more “girlish”. She loves going through my clothes and “trying” things on, which means she just puts it around her neck or over her head, then prances around with it on. It’s so cute!
Today I got a toy shopping cart for Izzy because I noticed that she was trying to put things into her chair and push that around. Now that she has her own shopping cart, she gathers things from the house, puts them in the basket and pushes the cart around.
Samson is getting a lot of attention from Izzy. She loves him and all other dogs. She’ll point at any dog and say “DOGH!” Sometimes I don’t think Samson appreciates Izzy’s “hugs” which is more like her lying on top of him. Samson also doesn’t appreciate it when she tries to sit on him. But overall they are good company for each other.
Farm
Today was beautiful and sunny, so Izzy and I met up with some other moms and babies at a farm at one of the local parks. We saw cows, ponies, chickens, sheep and goats. Izzy had a blast and loved petting the ponies, cows and getting swamped by the goats. Here are some pictures.
Hilarious
Walking!
Tonight Izzy walked further than she’s walked before! She walked all the way across the office. All she needed was a little motivation. It won’t be long now before she’s running and causing havoc around the house!
Dress Up
Yesterday while I was getting ready, Izzy was also getting ready… She went through our closet and pulled out Luke’s shorts, boxers and shoes and started putting them on. She actually managed to get some boxers and shorts around her waist. You can tell she’s such a little girl. She loves her clothes, jewelry and shoes!
The doc gave Luke some exercises to do to get his range of motion back and told him he could go back to playing soccer whenever he felt comfortable…so he went to a game last night… No worries he didn’t get injured again, just was disappointed that he couldn’t play at full steam and that his shoulder was still hurting him.
Easter Happenings
Happy Easter…three days later… I just realized I didn’t take any Easter pictures. I deliberately didn’t do Easter bunny pictures for two reasons. First, the Easter bunny costume looks pretty darn scary! Second, I don’t think the Easter bunny has anything to do with the Christian meaning of Easter, which is how I would like to celebrate this day.
Izzy and I got dressed up for church on Sunday and looked pretty styling. Izzy wore a new white Easter dress with polka dots and a little cardigan. I wore a nice purple sheath dress for the first time. Luke wore his usually, jeans and a shirt. After church we headed home because I realized that as good as I looked, my nice dress and heels were not practical for chasing Izzy.
After my quick change, we headed over to our friends house for a yummy Easter dinner. We played also played some games, then called it a day late in the afternoon. Thanks Linda and Michael for a good time!
New Projects
Luke’s been up to so many things these days it’s hard to keep up. He also has too many ideas rattling around in that brain of his that I think he’s having a hard time getting them done!
Here’s what he’s been up to:
Luke and his brother Jesse created an iPhone application that is now selling on the iTunes store. It’s called Coupon Sherpa and is an application which allows you to view coupons for various retail stores on your phone to show to the cashier at check out. Depending on the retailer, they will scan the barcode off your phone, or type in a coupon code.
He also just launched a new blog on FreeShipping.org called Go Frugal. Luke also keeps up with FreeShipping.org, with the help of one employee and one contractor who work from our loft.
There are several other projects and ideas percolating which hopefully he’ll find the time and manpower for.
ER Trip
On Wednesday night Luke came home from his indoor soccer game and told me that he thought he broke his shoulder. At the beginning of the game, he fell on his shoulder and another player fell on top of him. Even though he thought he broke his shoulder then, he kept playing… (he’d like me to tell you that he went on to score three goals) They ended up losing the game.
After talking to a nurse, we ended up going to the ER at the Fort Collins hospital. Within 15 minutes we were talking to an ER doctor, and another 15-20 minutes later we were out of there! The ER doctor said that Luke had tore some ligaments in his shoulder and to rest it for a week then go in to see an orthopedic doctor.
The ortho doctor will then decide whether he needs surgery to fix his ligaments. The ER doctor did mention that sometimes people will opt out of the surgery if they’re not doing sports or are not active. Luke’s complete opposite of that, so he’ll do what’s needed to try to get back as close to 100% as possible.
Luke’s doing okay. He’s right arm is in a sling and he’s doing activity as tolerated with that arm. I’ll post more updates on his shoulder as we know more.
