Summer Recap
The end of summer is near. Our neighborhood pool closes next Monday and the weather has cooled off a bit. I’m looking forward to fall, watching the leaves change color and wearing a coat, scarf and hat again. I love that we get to experience four seasons here!
Our summer has been filled with moving, construction and lots of activity. Here’s a glimpse at what we’ve doing in the afternoon this summer.
Busy Izzy
Izzy loves my iPhone. She loves pushing buttons and finding the pictures of the dogs on it. In this video she seems to be so busy doing things that she must talk on the phone and walk around at the same time…
Finished Deck and Office
Yah! I’m so excited that the construction has stopped and that the boys have moved the office out of the house and into the converted third car garage. The deck is also a nice addition, however shade is really needed and we’re waiting for umbrellas to be delivered. Here are pictures.

The Mommy Mobile
Here are some pics of the mommy mobile which is capable of seating 8 people. We now have plenty of room to ride when family comes to visit.
Final Initiation
Today is my final initiation into motherhood. What does this initiation entail? The purchase of a mommy mobile (ie. a minivan).
Ever since I was a teenager I swore that when I had kids I would only drive an SUV. SUVs are more stylish than minivans. I had a small SUV after college and Luke and I have always owned an SUV. I like SUVs because of the 4wd, how high up you sit and hauling capacity.
However minivans began to grow on me several months ago when we rented a van in Vegas. Getting Izzy in and out of it was a breeze and we were able to drive our crew of 5 adults around.
We have been a one car family for over 2 years. We have needed a second car for a long time. I broke down and started looking for a minivan because of its practicality, seating capacity and storage…even though its not a cool as an SUV.
Today we purchased a used Honda Odyssey, thus completing my initiation into true motherhood. Motherhood is not at all about apperances. Its about dirty diapers, realizing that your body will never be the same, and understanding that being practical sometimes means driving a minivan.
Office and Deck
Luke’s dad made the 15 hour drive down from Moose Jaw SK to help us finish off the third car garage as an office and start on a deck. He was here for two weeks and made tons of progress on the deck and office. We really couldn’t have done it with out him. Below are pictures of where we are right now.
Our landscaping is finally done. It probably took longer than it should have, so I’m glad that it’s finally in and done.

One Year
One year ago we packed up the biggest uHaul we could find and headed from Florida to Colorado. We dodged a hurricane that hit the week after we moved, and found a rental home in Colorado. We searched for the perfect home to build and 10 months later moved in. So much has changed in just one year. We are so thankful to be in Colorado and hope we never lose our appreciation for the beautiful mountains and weather.
There are just a couple things that I miss about Florida. The friends that we met there and the memories we made there, being newlyweds, getting our first dog, and bringing Isabelle home for the first time.
We love our lives in Colorado. We’ve reconnected with friends and family and made some new friends. We see our future here in Colorado and really hope we don’t have to move again!
Pigtails
These pigtails actually stayed in all day! Izzy usually pulls out any type of bow or clip in her hair, so I think I’ve found something that will work.
