Baby 2’s First Picture
Today was my 12 week appointment and also the first time to try to hear the baby’s heartbeat. They couldn’t find it using the fetal heartbeat monitor so they ordered an ultrasound. I wasn’t too worried because they couldn’t find Izzy’s heartbeat at first either. Luke and Izzy came with me for the ultrasound later in the day and of course they found the heartbeat right away. I’m so glad we were able to get an early ultrasound because if we didn’t we would have only had one ultrasound at 20 weeks.
It was so great to see the baby for the first time and see it’s head, the heartbeat, arms, legs, fingers and toes. It’s also comforting to know that I’m going through morning sickness and exhaustion to give life to that little one. Currently the baby is only 5 centimeters in length, but it’s moving a lot. Reminds me of when Izzy got her picture taken around this time during that pregnancy!
So here’s Baby#2’s first picture. That’s a hand you see in the top right and a foot right below it I believe.
Snowfall
We got our second snowfall of the season last night, so this morning I bundled Izzy up to go play in the snow!
Prego
Here’s my official first update on being prego again. I’m currently 10 weeks along. Morning (all-day) sickness is in full swing and the exhaustion is well…exhausting! I’ve fully recovered from the flu which I’m grateful for. I still have a lingering cough which everyone says lasts forever. I do have a little bump however I’m still able to fit into “normal” clothes for the most part. I’ll post belly pictures later.
My next prenatal checkup will be in two weeks when we should be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat. However, I’m always scared to step on that darn scale at the office because the numbers scare me! We will find out the sex of this baby when I am at 20 weeks when we’ll have the one and only ultrasound of my pregnancy.
Izzy still doesn’t know what’s going to happen in 8 months. She’s just content running around at full speed, reading books, doing puzzles, sitting on Samson and generally going none stop all day long.
I’m looking forward to week 15 when I will feel somewhat normal again and can enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. For now, I’m just taking it one day at a time.
Happy Halloween!
Grandma Lois and Great-Grandma Glady (Gigi) came to visit us this week. Even though it snowed a good 18 inches the first two days they were here we were glad to have them in town. On Friday we managed to dig out and head over to Colorado State University to go Trick-O-Treating at their student center. Izzy caught on quickly and loved filling her bucket with candy. We also carved some pumpkins which Gigi drew for us.
Saturday was my 27th birthday which was spent hanging out around town and having a lovely dinner with our little family. Today we had to say goodbye to the grandmas. We were sad to see them go, but hope to see them again soon.
