Merry Christmas!

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Dec 29, 09

This year we spent Christmas with the Low family in Colorado Springs.  It was great to have everyone together for Christmas and to watch Izzy open her many presents.  I think her favorite presents were a huge stuffed dog from Aunt Michelle and Uncle Jim and a stroller for her baby doll from Luke and I.  Here are a couple pictures family pictures from Christmas day.

Our Christmas Letter

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Dec 17, 09

Many families I know send out a Christmas/end of the year recap letter.  Since I have a blog I don’t plan on sending one out.  Let’s say I’m saving the trees and saving YOU from paper cuts.  Plus if you follow my blog you basically know what’s been going on this year.

However here are a few things that I find important enough to recap:

The beginning of the year brought new people to our company.  Now that we have a small office on the side of our house we have a part-time intern, one full-time employee and two contractors who work hours as they wish.  Luke continues to dream up new websites which keep our company growing. Sometime next year we hope to move the company to it’s own office space outside of our house, as well as bring on one more full-time employee and a couple more interns.  We are thankful that we are able to keep people employed and continue to grow in this economy.

Izzy will turn two at the end of January.  I can’t believe how fast she is growing up!  She knows over 50 words now and has become a little bossy, telling people to sit down in particular places or telling me to go get her something that she wants.  Even though she’s bossy she’s very polite and will say “please” and “thank you”.  Her baby dolls are now her favorite toys and she’s learning that the growing bump on mamma is “mamma’s baby”.

Baby #2 will join our family mid next year.  I’m thankful that this pregnancy has been relatively uneventful and even more thankful that the morning sickness and exhaustion seems to be dying off.  The holiday season is a helpful distraction from my growing belly.

We have now been in our home for just about 6 months and still loving it!  It will be a slow process to hang curtains and pictures to really finish off the interior but it will get there eventually.  Once we find out the sex of baby #2 we’ll start transitioning Izzy to her “big girl” room after it’s properly painted, furnished and decorated and then we’ll start decorating the nursery appropriately.

Samson is getting older.  He’s now about 3 and a half years old.  Unfortunately he doesn’t get the attention he use to before we had Izzy, but he’s adjusted well to Izzy, lets her pull his ears, chase his tail and sit on him.  He loves having a big backyard to run around in and has made friends with the little dog behind us and the big dogs in front of us.

Next week we are heading down to Colorado Springs to spend Christmas with the entire Low family.  We are glad that we are able to spend time with my side of the family this Christmas but are sad that we are missing out on the Knowles festivities in Canada as well.  Hopefully we will see the Knowles side of the family in the beginning of the New Year.

Now we’ll leave you with this. Happy Birthday Jesus, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and may you all find true joy this holiday season.

With love,
Luke, Maisie, Isabelle and Samson

Belly Week 16

Category: Baby News Posted by Maisie on Dec 16, 09

Wow, I realized that I hadn’t taken any belly pictures yet this pregnancy. I’m WAY behind, so here’s a picture of belly week 16. Excuse the quality of the picture since I had to take this myself using my computer.

Yesterday was my 16 week check up.  It went quickly and normal as expected. Baby’s moving around and its heartbeat is quick as can be. We’ll find out the sex of the baby around January 18th when I have my 20 week ultra sound and check up.   Stay tuned!

Playroom

Category: Daily Life Posted by Maisie on Dec 06, 09

We have finally turned our upstairs loft into a playroom!  I have wanted to do that since the day we moved in, but it was a little overwhelming at the time. But recently, toys everywhere and in every room of our house was starting to get on my nerves, so it was time for a playroom.  I think it turned out great and Izzy wakes up every morning wanting to hang out in the playroom.  This room is the only room in our house that is completely done with window treatments and all. Here are some pictures:

Thanksgiving 2009

Category: Daily Life, Travel & Trips Posted by Maisie on Dec 01, 09

We spent Thanksgiving down in Colorado Springs with my parents this year. Mom (”paw-paw” which is grandma in Chinese) cooked a delicious turkey dinner.  On Friday, Luke and I said farewell to Izzy for the weekend and headed off to spend a relaxing weekend in Denver.  Izzy had tons of fun with “paw-paw” and “kong-kong” (grandfather in Chinese).  They had a huge slide in their basement, toys, books and a table with chairs ready for her stay.

Izzy helped around the house by drying and putting away dishes, helping to make the beds, and “doing” laundry.  She played herself tired each day in front of a willing audience and didn’t miss her mom and dad one bit!!  Luke and I spent our weekend by tackling as much of our Christmas shopping as possible, sleeping in, eating at some great restaurants and relaxing at the spa.

We picked Izzy up on Sunday evening and she fell asleep in the car as soon as we were on the highway.  She was exhausted from her weekend of fun with “paw-paw” and “kong-kong”.
