Why “Top Of A Hill”? First of all because it’s just a cool name for a blog! But really, it’s because the surname “Knowles” literally means “top of a hill”. Back in the day, any British person that was born who lived on the top of a hill was given the surname Knowles. So somewhere back in Luke’s family line, there must have been someone that lived at the top of a hill. Read more about the origin of “Knowles” by clicking here.
Luke and I however, lived at the bottom of a hill in Florida. We met in Colorado on Luke’s birthday in 2004 at the top of Copper Mountain on a snowboarding trip put together by mutual friends. A few months later we started dating and moved to Florida for jobs. We were married on May 14, 2005 at a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Lake Mary, FL. We then bought a house north of Orlando and settled into newlywed life.
Our first addition to our family happened in September 2005 when our dog Samson joined our family. He’s the sweetest basset hound you will meet (in my opinion). Isabelle Faith Knowles was the next addition to our family. She arrived on January 26, 2008. You can read all about my pregnancy in the post category called “Baby News“.
In August 2008 we sold our house in Florida to move back to good old Colorado. We wanted to be at one day’s drive from family and craved the mountains and snow. We moved into our dream house in Fort Collins in July 2009!
Our second daughter Joelle Grace joined our family on May 29, 2010. We love watching our two girls grow up and hope they become the best of friends. Our little family feels complete so we’re not planning on any further additions.

How can you live at the bottom of a hill in Florida. Hills don’t exist in Florida.
I swear there’s one hill in Florida and we’re at the bottom of it!
TALKING ABOUT HILLS:
I’d say there is one growing and growing in someone’s stature in Florida. Inside that “hill” is my precious wee grand-daughter.
What a blessing she will be! After 4 grandsons, and 2 great-grandsons, a little girl will certainly be welcome.
I’m anxiously awaiting the wonderful news of her arrival.
