Anniversary and Mother’s Day

It’s hard to believe that Luke and I have been married for 7 years! It hasn’t felt like that long, but then again we’ve had a lot going on since getting married. To celebrate, we headed out of town to the one city the Fort Collins airport flies to…Las Vegas! We planned our anniversary dinner [...]

Captiva

Last week we returned from our family vacation to Captiva Island, FL. We planned this trip with our friends the Knechts, who have three girls around Izzy and JoJo’s age. We stayed at the family friendly resort of South Seas. If you’re a parent with young kids, you’ll take note of this resort. It has [...]

Vacation & Ice Cream Social

In July we ventured down to Colorado Springs to visit my friend Julie and her newest baby. We also took the cog railway up to Pikes Peak with the girls. That was something I would not do again in the near future with little ones. Both the girls screamed on the 1 hour ride up the mountain, then almost had meltdowns on the ride down. Maybe in 10 years we’ll try that ride again!

The first week of September we took a family vacation back to The Tyler Place. Luke was sick the whole week which was not so fun, but I still enjoyed the concept of eating meals without kids and actually having time to read a book and relax. The girls had a great time at camp. Izzy caught her first fish, JoJo “made” some art projects and they both made some friends. Even though it was a great vacation I think we’ll switch it up next year and try a different location.

This weekend we hosted an ice cream social for our company. Everyone was required to either show up in 50′s style or have to hola hoop for their ice cream. It was so much fun!

JoJo is fully walking and it’s a little crazier around the house with two little ones running around. JoJo is working on her vocabulary. So far she can say hi, bye, mama, dada, duck, milk and kinda says bunny, puppy and Izzy. She’s 22 lbs and eats more than Izzy does. Her favorite thing is her bunny blanket thing that she refuses to go anywhere without and freaks out if anyone tries to take it away from her. Now that JoJo is 1 and fully walking she goes to Mother’s Day Out while Izzy is at preschool on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. She’s doing great with drop offs not only at school but at the church nursery. JoJo also started attending the music class that Izzy started off in.

Izzy started preschool last week. Dropping her off on her first day of school was rough as expected. However on her second day she placed her name on the “present” board and chose a happy face to display how she was feeling that day. Our neighbor Theo is also in the same class as Izzy and they always have a great time at school together. Other than preschool on Tuesday and Thursdays, Izzy’s enrolled in soccer, pre-piano music class and dance. It makes for a busy week!

Glenwood Springs

This past weekend we loaded up our van and drove up to Glenwood Springs for a weekend with our friends and Steen. We rented a big house for the five adults and five kids. Our friends have three girls right around the ages of Izzy and JoJo, so we always have fun when we’re together.

Moose Jaw

We try to make a trip to Canada every year to visit Luke’s side of the family, whom we rarely get to see. We prefer to go in the summer since Canada obviously frigid in the winter months. We picked Memorial Day weekend this year and decided to celebrate JoJo’s first birthday up there.

This doesn’t happen often, but all of Luke’s family managed to make it into Moose Jaw for a one day gathering to bury Luke’s grandpa’s ashes (who died a few years ago) and to celebrate 4 birthdays. JoJo, unfortunately, slept through the cake and ice cream portion of the birthday party so there will be a “re-do” of that this weekend.

It was a packed weekend, but we’re glad we got to see everyone especially since the last time at Jesse’s wedding there wasn’t time to catch up.

Disneyland

Since our office was closed on Friday we decided to take a spontaneous trip to Disneyland and Legoland in California over the weekend. We started at Disneyland on Friday and Saturday. The park was insanely crowded since it is still Spring Break season. The lines were long so Izzy received a crash course in patience. Izzy was thrilled to ride as many rides as she could and would wake up every morning asking to ride more rides. We took her on any ride we could that didn’t have a really long wait. We even took her on the Matterhorn roller coaster. I have memories on that ride from when I was around Izzy’s age and all I remember was the gorilla with the red eyes. When she went on the ride a second time with me, she warned me of that same gorilla that was in the tunnel.

We met Mickey and Minnie and saw all the princesses from a far. Izzy was so excited to meet Mickey, she ran up to him and gave him a hug and said “HI MICKEY!!!”. She then got to hold his hand and get her picture taken with him. She was also excited to meet Minnie who also received a big Izzy hug, however Izzy informed me that she thinks Mickey is better than Minnie. We got Izzy a little stuffed Mickey, which she placed with her existing Minnie blanket/doll and had them hold hands then announcing that “They’re together”. I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t get to meet the princesses. Izzy’s favorite princess is Sleeping Beauty and she would have been beside herself if she got to meet her.

X-Games 2025 Contender

We’re in Steamboat Springs this weekend for some time on the slopes. It’s been two years since we’ve been snowboarding and this time we brought the whole family plus cousin Steen. Being on the slopes also brings back fond memories from when Luke and I first met at Copper mountain in February 2004. This morning [...]

What Happens In Vegas

Last week we were in Las Vegas. Luke had a conference to attend so the girls and I tagged along. Since Luke was going to be at a conference every day until 5pm, we brought along our babysitter. Great decision. Since I had extra help I actually ventured outside our hotel with the girls in [...]

Summer 2010 Vacation

Luke really wanted to go on a family vacation this summer, but anyone with kids knows that vacations tend to be more work than fun. So I said the only way we were going to go on vacation this summer with Izzy and a 3 month old JoJo was if we could go to an [...]
